TB-500
Cell-movement and tissue-repair research · From $36
Overview
TB-500 is a synthetic acetylated heptapeptide reproducing the LKKTETQ actin-binding motif of the endogenous 43-residue actin-sequestering protein thymosin beta-4. It is used in preclinical and in-vitro work as a minimal-motif probe for G-actin binding and actin cytoskeletal dynamics, with reported literature endpoints including keratinocyte and endothelial cell migration and hepatic stellate cell activation. Note that the trade designation TB-500 is applied in the literature and commerce both to this heptapeptide fragment and to full-length recombinant thymosin beta-4, which are chemically distinct entities.

Research explained
The research interest
How thymosin-related molecules are studied in wound models.
What was studied
The selected mouse study examined both thymosin beta-4 and a short piece of that protein.
Evidence context
The source examines mice and both a full protein and a fragment. Evidence needs to match the exact molecule.
Selected-source check, not a complete clinical review. No human-use recommendation.
