Sermorelin
Growth-hormone reference standard · From $28
Overview
Sermorelin is the C-terminally amidated 1-29 fragment of human growth hormone-releasing hormone, the shortest fragment retaining full GHRH receptor agonist activity in vitro. It is a class-2 (secretin family) GPCR agonist that couples to Gs and elevates cAMP in pituitary somatotroph preparations, and it is widely used as a reference agonist in receptor-binding, signalling and structure-activity studies of the GHRH receptor. Historically it was also characterised as a pharmacological agent for assessing pituitary growth hormone secretory capacity; the catalogue item is supplied for laboratory research use only.

Research explained
The research interest
How growth and hormone-release patterns are studied.
What was studied
The selected study examined growth and hormone-release patterns in rats.
Evidence context
The evidence shown comes from rats. Its scope is growth and hormone responses in that model.
Selected-source check, not a complete clinical review. No human-use recommendation.
