MOTS-c
Mitochondria and energy-metabolism research · From $42
Overview
MOTS-c is a 16-amino-acid mitochondrial-derived peptide encoded by a short open reading frame within the mitochondrial 12S rRNA gene. It is investigated in preclinical rodent and in-vitro models as a regulator of AMPK signalling, the folate cycle and tethered de novo purine biosynthesis, and skeletal-muscle glucose handling. Further mechanistic literature examines its stress-induced translocation to the nucleus and its role as a retrograde mitochondrial-to-nuclear signalling molecule.
