KPV (Lys-Pro-Val)
Inflammation-signalling research · From $42
Overview
KPV is the C-terminal tripeptide (residues 11-13) of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone and retains the anti-inflammatory signaling activity attributed to the parent hormone while lacking melanocortin receptor agonism, so it does not produce the pigmentary or feeding-related effects associated with full-length alpha-MSH. It is investigated in preclinical and in vitro models as an intracellular-acting immunomodulatory peptide, with reported mechanisms including inhibition of NF-kappaB nuclear translocation and suppression of downstream pro-inflammatory cytokine transcription. Published primary work includes PepT1-mediated transport into intestinal epithelial cells and murine models of colonic inflammation.
