Hexarelin
Growth-hormone and heart-tissue research · From $34
Overview
Hexarelin is a synthetic hexapeptide growth hormone secretagogue, a 2-methyl-D-Trp substituted analogue of GHRP-6, acting as an agonist at GHS-R1a. Beyond pituitary secretagogue activity, it is widely used in preclinical cardiovascular research as a pharmacological tool for the CD36 scavenger receptor, which mediates growth-hormone-independent cardiovascular actions of GHRPs in rodent models; the GHRP binding site on CD36 has been mapped biochemically.

Research explained
The research interest
How a peptide interacts with targets in heart tissue.
What was studied
The selected study examined a binding target and blood-flow pressure in animal hearts.
Evidence context
The source concerns animal hearts. Changes in pressure describe a measured response, not a clinical benefit.
Selected-source check, not a complete clinical review. No human-use recommendation.
Structure
His-D-2-methyl-Trp-Ala-Trp-D-Phe-Lys-NH2 (C-terminal amide; contains 2-methyl-D-tryptophan and D-configured residues, so no standard one-letter sequence exists)
