GHK-Cu (Copper Peptide)
Skin, collagen and copper-transport research · From $44
Overview
GHK-Cu is the copper(II) chelate of the endogenous tripeptide glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine, originally isolated from human plasma. It is investigated in preclinical and in vitro systems as a copper-transport ligand and as a modulator of extracellular matrix gene expression, including studies of collagen and glycosaminoglycan/proteoglycan synthesis in cultured fibroblasts and in rodent wound models. Reported mechanistic work examines its Cu(II) binding affinity and redox behavior, and transcriptional effects on matrix metalloproteinase, antioxidant, and matrix-remodeling gene sets.

Research explained
The research interest
How cells produce collagen, a structural protein in tissue.
What was studied
The selected experiment measured collagen production in lab-grown cells.
Evidence context
This source concerns lab-grown cells and collagen measurements, rather than skin outcomes in people.
Selected-source check, not a complete clinical review. No human-use recommendation.
Structure
Specifications
Identity
- CAS number
- 89030-95-5
- Formula
- C14H22CuN6O4
- Molecular weight
- 401.9 g/mol
- Chain length
- 3 residues
Material
- Purity, RP-HPLC
- ≥ 99%
- Form
- Lyophilized powder
- Appearance
- Deep blue to blue-violet lyophilized powder or crystalline solid; the intense color arises from the Cu(II) d-d absorption of the chelate
- Vial sizes
- 50 mg, 100 mg
Handling
- Solubility
- Freely soluble in water and aqueous buffers; sparingly soluble in DMSO; practically insoluble in nonpolar organic solvents. Complex stability is pH-dependent and the chelate dissociates under strongly acidic conditions.
- Storage
- Store lyophilized powder at -20 °C, desiccated and protected from light; -80 °C for long-term storage. Aqueous stock solutions should be aliquoted and kept frozen to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
