DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide)
Sleep and hormone-cycle research · From $25
Overview
DSIP is an endogenous nonapeptide first isolated in 1977 from the cerebral venous blood of rabbits during induced delta-wave sleep states. Its precursor gene and cognate receptor remain uncharacterized, and the peptide is described in the literature as a neuromodulator of unresolved mechanism. Preclinical work has investigated its association with EEG delta activity, hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal stress responses, and oxidative-stress and hepatocyte markers in rodent restraint-stress and focal-ischemia models.

Research explained
The research interest
How a peptide relates to sleep-associated brain activity.
What was studied
The original study measured sleep-related brain waves in rabbits.
Evidence context
This source concerns rabbits and brain-wave measurements, rather than human sleep outcomes.
Selected-source check, not a complete clinical review. No human-use recommendation.
