CJC-1295 with DAC
Long-acting growth-hormone research · From $35
Overview
A bioconjugate-enabled analogue of GHRH(1-29) in which the tetrasubstituted 29-residue backbone is extended by a C-terminal lysine bearing a maleimidopropionyl group, the so-called drug affinity complex (DAC). The maleimide moiety reacts selectively with the free cysteine-34 thiol of serum albumin, and this covalent albumin conjugation is the mechanistic basis studied in preclinical models for its markedly extended circulating residence relative to unconjugated GHRH fragments. It is investigated in vitro and in rodent models as a GHRH receptor agonist and as a model system for albumin-binding peptide conjugation chemistry.

Research explained
The research interest
How hormone-releasing signals work over time.
What was studied
The selected study tested hormone release and how long CJC-1295 remained in rats.
Evidence context
The evidence shown covers rat cells and rats, with hormone measurements as the main outcomes.
Selected-source check, not a complete clinical review. No human-use recommendation.

Handling
- Solubility
- Soluble in water and in dilute aqueous acetic acid; compatible with DMSO for preparation of laboratory stock solutions. The maleimide group is thiol-reactive and hydrolytically labile at alkaline pH, so near-neutral or slightly acidic buffers are used for handling.
- Storage
- Lyophilized powder: store at -20 °C, desiccated and protected from light; -80 °C for long-term storage. Solutions: aliquot and store at -80 °C; avoid repeated freeze-thaw and avoid thiol-containing buffers (e.g. DTT, 2-mercaptoethanol), which react with the maleimide.
